EC2
Energy Citizenship and Energy Communities for a Clean Energy Transition
EU project in the Horizon 2020 funding program
Climate protection has become of central importance for the survival of our civilization. The production and consumption of energy play an important role in this. Against this background, the EU has created a framework law for a sustainable EU electricity market. The project "EC2 - Energy Citizenship and Energy Communities for a Clean Energy Transition" will examine this EU framework law from an interdisciplinary perspective from May 2021.
Exciting questions are at the heart of the project: What is the fundamental attitude of energy consumers towards a switch to more sustainable energy consumption? What additional (financial, time) contribution are they willing to make? What practical problems do they face? What pleasure do they derive in particular from active participation in an energy community in their neighborhood?
At the same time, the concept of the "energy citizen" will be constructed as a paradigm of the sustainable, clean EU energy market and "energy citizenship" will be made measurable using a scale.
The project is supported by the EU under a call of the Horizon 2020 research funding program and is designed to run for three years.
